Access to Surety & Bonding for First Nation Contractors in Construction

Press Release

Access to Surety & Bonding for First Nation Contractors in Construction

FNFA (First Nations Finance Authority) is conducting this quick survey as a priority to advocate for equitable access to surety and bonding for First Nations contractors in construction.

Section 89(1) of the Indian Act prevents contractors from leveraging their own assets situated on reserve land as security. Without security, a contractor cannot execute an enforceable indemnity agreement, which is necessary to gain access to surety bonding.

Your answers will be collected and used as part of our ongoing effort to advocate for change and equity. If you would like to have access to this paper, please feel free to request.

All participants will have their names entered to win a $500 gas card.
