Auditor General of Alberta: Notice of Report Release

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada — Auditor General Doug Wylie is scheduled to release a Report of the Auditor General—December 2023 following its distribution to Members of the Legislative Assembly on the morning of Thursday, December 14, 2023, around 9 a.m. MST. The report will be available online at oag.ab.ca shortly after.

The report contains the following:

  • 2022-2023 Consolidated Financial Statements of the Province of Alberta and Summary of Ministry Audit Work
  • Summary of the 2022 Financial Audit Results of School Jurisdictions in Alberta

Performance Audits

Alberta Jobs Now Program (Jobs, Economy and Trade)

  • This audit examines the effectiveness of the department’s systems to design, deliver, monitor, and report on the Alberta Jobs Now Program, up to the design of the program’s second intake of applications.

Procurement Processes (Transportation and Economic Corridors)

  • This audit examines if Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors has effective processes to ensure fair and competitive procurement of its capital projects.

Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses of the Premier, Ministers and Their Staff (Treasury Board and Finance)

  • This audit examines whether there are effective processes to verify that travel, meal, and hospitality expenses comply with policies, and whether the Treasury Board Committee has effective processes to oversee the expenses of the Premier, Ministers and Associate Ministers. Departments examined include Executive Council (Premier’s Office); Treasury Board and Finance; Health; Mental Health and Addiction; Jobs, Economy and Trade; Immigration and Multiculturalism; Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction; and Technology and Innovation.

Summary of Recommendations

  • Each ministry chapter in this report includes a list of recommendations made to government over the years which have not yet been implemented.
