Calling All Hockey Fans: Stanley Cup(R) to Arrive in Nunavik and Nunavut

 

 

 

Kuujjuaq, QC – March 25, 2015 – Scotiabank is inviting hockey fans to come out to Kuujjuaq and Iqaluit for a special hockey celebration on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28.

Friday, March 27:

• Celebration of Hockey in Kuujjuaq

What:
Scotiabank and the NHL® are hosting a celebration of hockey, where local hockey fans can take their photo with the Stanley Cup^® and get autographs from NHL Alumni™ and Stanley Cup^® Champions Marty McSorley and John LeClair. Scotiabank and Project North will be donating 25 bags of new hockey equipment to Nunavik youths. At the event, 5 of the youths will be presented the equipment; the rest of those receiving the equipment will have it distributed later by First Air.

What:
A special VIP hockey game coached by NHL Alumni Marty McSorley and John LeClair. Tickets for the game will cost $10, with proceeds supporting local charities, Qayuqtuvik Society, Iqaluit Soup Kitchen, and YWCA – Qimavik. The Stanley Cup will also be available for public viewing ahead of and during the game in the arena.

• Youth Hockey Clinics with NHL Alumni and Stanley Cup^® Public Event

What:
NHL Alumni Marty McSorley and John LeClair will assist coaches with on-ice clinics for local minor hockey teams.
There will also be the opportunity for the children and for the general public to take their photo with the Stanley Cup^® in the arena lobby area from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
