Carney heads to Fredericton to promote ‘Buy Canadian’ policy – iPolitics

With his minority Liberal government’s fragile hold on power secure for at least one more week, Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to begin the traditional week-long parliamentary hiatus that accompanies Remembrance Day in Fredericton, where, according to his office, he’ll meet with New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt (11 30 a.m. AT) before a mid-afternoon appearance to promote the ‘Buy Canadian Policy’ laid out in last week’s budget. (1:15 p.m. AT)

According to the Telegraph-Journal, Holt intends to “raise Canada-U.S. relations, specifically renewing calls for a solution to punishing softwood lumber tariffs,” and will “also push for a slice of the billions contained in the Carney government’s new budget, specifically new defence spending for CFB Gagetown and a share of new health infrastructure dollars,” as per her office, and is set to hold a “separate press conference” to brief reporters on her tête-à-tête with the prime minister.
