What’s happening on (and off) Parliament Hill, plus the news you need to start your day.
After clocking in a second round of cross-aisle cross-examination in the House of Commons yesterday afternoon, Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to begin what Canadian Press describes as a “globe-hopping travel season” with a morning flight to Mexico City, where, as previewed by his office, he’s booked in for a series of high-level huddles with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
First up: An “official welcoming ceremony at the National Palace,” (1 p.m.), after which the two leaders will retreat behind closed doors for a tête-à-tête (1:20 p.m.), which will be followed by a “working lunch” (2 p.m.) and a “roundtable discussion with Canadian and Mexican business leaders” (3:30 p.m.) before heading back before the cameras for a “joint press conference.” (5 p.m.)
