Carney to attend Remembrance Day ceremony in Ottawa – iPolitics

After kicking off what is on track to be a cross-country tour to make the case for his minority Liberal government’s inaugural budget with a whirlwind one-day visit to Fredericton, N.B. yesterday, Prime Minister Mark Carney is back in the capital to take part in the National Remembrance Day Ceremony, which, as per longstanding tradition, will be held at the National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa this morning. (10:30 a.m.)

Also expected to be in attendance:  Current and retired Canadian Armed Forces members, as well as veterans and their families — including this year’s Silver Cross Mother, Nancy Payne, whose son Randy was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2006 — as well as a full contingent of dignitaries, including Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Wagner, who, as per Rideau Hall, will be there on behalf of Governor General Mary Simon, who is currently in hospital recovering from a respiratory illness.
