What’s happening on (and off) Parliament Hill, plus the news you need to start your day.
Before jetting to France to kick off a six-day European mini-tour before joining his G7 counterparts for two days of high-level closed-door discussions next week, Prime Minister Mark Carney will make an afternoon stop in Toronto to unveil what his office is billing as “new measures to build a stronger, more resilient, more affordable food system for Canadians.” (4:30 p.m.)
As yet, no additional details on the announcement have been released, but senior officials “representing several departments,” including Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, will host an embargoed briefing on “strengthening Canada’s domestic food system” this morning. (9 a.m.)
