Carney’s European mini-tour continues with stops in Germany, Latvia – iPolitics

After arriving in Berlin last night, Prime Minister Mark Carney was set to kick off a whirlwind one-day visit to Germany by joining German chancellor Friedrich Merz for a “working breakfast” as part of his ongoing bid to “boost trade and defence ties with Europe’s largest economy,” as per the latest dispatch from Canadian Press, which notes that Germany “is looking to Canada to help provide affordable fuel, particularly for the country’s large manufacturing sector that grappled with restrictions since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.”
The two leaders are scheduled to hold a joint press conference before Carney heads to Kiel to tour a “defence manufacturing facility” before departing for Latvia, where, according to his itinerary, he will be “greeted” by his Latvian counterpart, Evika Silina.
