Exactly one week after Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne managed to secure the preliminary approval of the House of Commons for the policies laid out in his inaugural budget speech, MPs are set to clock in at least one more day going through the fine print of his plan to roll out the opening round of proposed new economic and tax measures.
The 634-page budget implementation bill made its debut appearance on the floor of the House of Commons last week, which prompted the Conservatives to put forward an amendment that, if adopted, would have MPs reject Champagne’s request to send the legislation to committee for further review.
