Press Release
May 10, 2017 – Ottawa, ON
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has published REGDOC-1.6.1, Licence Application Guide: Nuclear Substances and Radiation Devices, version 2.
REGDOC-1.6.1 sets out guidance in the preparation and submission of an application for a licence to carry out activities related to nuclear substances and radiation devices.
Version 2 supersedes version 1 of the document, which was published in October 2015. Since the publication of version 1 there have been a number of areas identified by both the CNSC and applicants as needing clarification. The changes in version 2 do not result in new or increased obligations for licensees or applicants.
The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect the health, safety and security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
