After acknowledging that the ongoing trade talks between Canada and the United States are in an “intense phase” during a mid-morning visit to Prince Edward Island yesterday morning, Prime Minister Mark Carney has no planned public events today, according to his office.
As the clock ticks down to the Aug. 1 deadline that U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally set for trading partners to strike a deal to avoid the punishing new tariff regime rolled out during his now-legendary ‘Liberation Day’ press conference in the Rose Garden in April, “countries around the world have been watching to see how many trade deals materialize ahead of (the) deadline, and what can be gleaned from them for their own negotiations with the Trump administration,” according to the latest dispatch from Canadian Press.
