EverWind Receives Environmental Assessment Approval for the Setapuktuk Wind Project

GUYSBOROUGH, NOVA SCOTIA – EverWind, Canada’s leading developer of green hydrogen and ammonia projects, is pleased to receive Environmental Assessment approval from the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change for the Setapuktuk Wind Project, a large-scale renewable energy development in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) and the first wind project in EverWind’s Phase 2 renewable power buildout.

Setapuktuk represents a major economic development opportunity for the MODG and surrounding communities and will deliver long-term regional benefits,including:

• 350–400 construction jobs and 20–35 long-term operations and maintenance jobs
• More than $3 million in indexed annual municipal tax revenue to MODG
• $432,000 annually through a Community Benefits Fund supporting local priorities such as infrastructure, recreation, and education
• New opportunities for local contractors, suppliers, and service providers
• Support for long-term population stability by creating local career opportunities for young people and families

Setapuktuk is a 432 MW onshore wind project that will generate clean, renewable electricity to power industrial-scale clean fuel production. It will play a critical role in advancing Nova Scotia’s clean energy and economic policy objectives by creating good-paying jobs and enabling workforce transition into long-term opportunities in the growing green economy. The project is aligned with the Province’s energy strategy, including through Wind West for large-scale renewable development to support the export of Nova Scotia’s renewable natural resources and spur industrial growth. Setapuktuk will be connected to the Point Tupper Green Fuels Project facility through the approved Strait Crossing Transmission Line, supplying renewable power for the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia for both domestic and international markets.

Setapuktuk is being co-developed in partnership with Membertou, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing Mi’kmaq economic reconciliation and Indigenous leadership in clean energy. This partnership ensures meaningful Indigenous participation in governance, employment, training, and long-term economic opportunity. The project name, Setapuktuk, the Mi’kmaq word for “Guysborough,” reflects the cultural foundation of this collaboration. The project itself has been shaped through years of environmental studies and sustained engagement with local residents, Mi’kmaq communities, municipalities, and provincial regulators.

About the Setapuktuk Wind Project

Setapuktuk, the Mi’kmaw word for Guysborough (pronounced Set-tuh-puck-took), is a 432 MW onshore wind project located near Pirate Harbour, Middle Melford, Sand Point, Hadleyville, and Manchester in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough. The project will include 54 wind turbines. Setapuktuk is part of EverWind’s Phase 2 onshore wind development and will supply renewable power to the Point Tupper Green Fuels Project facility via the Strait Crossing Transmission Line.
