Expressions of Interest Solicitation for Board Member – Kitikmeot Corporation

The Kitikmeot Inuit Association is seeking candidate from the Kitikmeot Region to be director on the Kitikmeot Corporation (KC) Board of Directors.

The KC Board structure consists of 5 members with appointments made on constituency and competency bases.  The composition of the Board consists of:

Ø  1 member from the East Kitikmeot

Ø  1 member from the West Kitikmeot

Ø  2 members with strong business experience

Ø  1 member from the KIA Executive Committee

There is currently One (1) vacancyon the KC Board which expired on March 31, 2019.

KIA is seeking a candidate for a (1) One term of office for a board member with strong competency business experience.

KIA will make the appointment at its September 10 7 11, 2019 Board meeting.  The appointment will be for three year terms up to March 31, 2022.

The KC Board meets on an as required basis, normally approximately three times per year.  A daily honorarium and expenses will be provided for attending KC Board Meetings and periodic teleconference calls.

To be eligible you must be willing to contribute to setting priorities, examination of business opportunities and strategies and other business decisions presented by KC management.  Candidates must be Kitikmeot Inuit beneficiaries.

The following persons are not eligible for appointment to the Committee:

  1. A member of Parliament or the Nunavut Legislative Assembly;
  2. A member of an Institution of Public Government under the NLCA (e.g. Nunavut Impact review Board, Nunavut Water Board, Nunavut Planning Commission, Nunavut Wildlife Management Board, and Nunavut Surface rights Tribunal);
  3. A member of the KIA Board of Directors or a full-time staff member of KIA; or
  4. A person convicted of a criminal offence within five (5) years of the opening of Expressions of Interest.
