Federal funding cuts to urban Indigenous programming put Kingston Native Centre at risk – The Kingston Whig Standard

The Kingston Native Centre and Language Nest will be facing significant federal funding cuts on April 1.
In a recent press release, the centre’s executive director, Brandon Maracle, said that this action by the government undermines the “trust that has taken time to build.”
“When funding disappears, community members don’t experience it as a line item. They experience it as the centre no longer being able to help their grandmother, their child, or their family,” Maracle said.
