Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation chief says parties involved failed to uphold duty to consult

Arguments were heard in an Edmonton courtroom on Monday months after Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation (SLCN) applied for a judicial review to challenge the Alberta government’s granting of a Water Act licence in connection with the proposed Wonder Valley artificial intelligence (AI) data centre project.

The primary concern being raised by SLCN revolves around the Crown’s duty to consult with regard to the province issuing a water licence to the Municipal District of Greenview in connection with the project.
