Chief and council in Batchewana First Nation say there’s a risk that money from the Robinson Huron Treaty settlement may have been distributed to unknown individuals
Batchewana First Nation is advising its members that payouts from a treaty settlement have been put on hold after three individuals were mistakenly registered under the Indian Act and added to the band’s membership list by Indigenous Services Canada.
In a notice issued late yesterday, chief and council said there’s a risk that approximately $351,000 in payments from the Robinson Huron Treaty settlement were distributed to the individuals.
