First Nations Advocates Hold a News Conference – CPAC.ca

A group of First Nations representatives hold a news conference to discuss the United Nations Human Rights Committee’s recent call for Canada to “end discrimination” within the Indian Act, specifically the second-generation cut-off rule which limits the transmission of status.

The news conference is hosted by the Union of BC Indian Chiefs and the Indian Act Sex Discrimination Working Group. Speaking are Chief Marilyn Slett (Heiltsuk Tribal Council), Sharon McIvor (lead petitioner), Jeremy Matson (EMRIP requestor) and Zoe Craig-Sparrow (Justice for Girls). (no interpretation)
