G7 urged by Indigenous leaders to reverse energy infrastructure financing bans – ThoroldToday.ca

‘We are ready,’ say Canada’s Indigenous resource advocates as they press the Group of Seven nations to remove financial barriers hindering oil and gas development — arguing that such moves would benefit both developing countries and global climate efforts

Ahead of the G7 Energy and Environment Ministers’ Meeting in Toronto on Oct. 30 and 31, 2025, Indigenous leaders are calling on G7 leaders to advance global energy security, economic growth and environmental protection by affirming the global importance of secure natural gas supply and reversing financing restrictions on oil- and gas-related critical infrastructure.

Representing five Indigenous organizations, the group urged G7 energy and environment ministers to amplify their support for global energy security and worldwide emissions reductions through clear and positive messages about the role of liquefied natural gas (LNG) — and not to stop there.
