Aboriginal Organizations to promote economic opportunities
October 16, 2014 – Cambridge Bay, Nunavut – Office of the Minister of the Environment, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor), and Minister for the Arctic Council
Minister Aglukkaq today announced an arrangement to empower three Northern Aboriginal organizations to provide service delivery for CanNor’s Northern Aboriginal Economic Opportunities Program (NAEOP).
The new arrangement gives the Kitkmeot Inuit Association, the Kakivak Association and dana Naye Ventures responsibility to promote CanNor’s NAEOP Entrepreneurship and Business Development Fund and accept applications for funding under this program. The three external delivery organizations can then recommend project funding to CanNor. The Minister of CanNor will continue to make final decisions about which projects will receive funding under the program.
