Government of Yukon and Ross River Dena Council plan next steps for local bridge

March 25, 2014

WHITEHORSE—Premier Darrell Pasloski and Chief of the Ross River Dena Council Brian Ladue are pleased to announce that the Government of Yukon will issue a request for proposal (RFP) to stabilize the Ross River suspension bridge.

“The government’s primary concern is public safety. We believe issuing an RFP is the best option at this time to ensure that,” Premier Pasloski said. “We will continue our dialogue with chief and council to determine the details, with the well-being of residents and visitors at the forefront of our discussions.”

“We would like to acknowledge the positive direction that the government has taken in regard to the situation with the Ross River suspension bridge,” Chief Ladue said. “We feel that together our respective governments can find solutions to secure, make safe, and then restore the historic bridge.”

“We believe by working together we can address the concerns of the Ross River Dena Council, the residents of Ross River and act in the best interest of all Yukoners,” Pasloski added.
