Indigenous Advisory Council member worries Major Projects Office won’t take group’s advice – iPolitics

Grand Chief of Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta Trevor Mercredi says he and his council peers will “probably leave the table” if they feel their recommendations are being ignored.

“We’re done with zero consultation, zero notice and zero involvement of the First Nations of Treaty 8,” Grand Chief Trevor Mercredi told the media during a press conference in West Block.

Mercredi was among several Alberta chiefs who were in Ottawa this week to voice concerns about the way the province and the federal government went about signing their recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a potential pipeline project.
