Mike Deranger of Derantech Welding says local Indigenous-owned companies are not being treated fairly by major oilsands companies.
A member of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN) is on a hunger strike because of what he says is unfair treatment of Indigenous-owned companies in the oilsands.
Mike Deranger, president and founder of Derantech Welding, has camped in a teepee by Highway 63 north of Fort McMurray since Aug.10. Deranger and his supporters have named the site “Three Rivers Peace Camp.”
