Press Release – KAHNAWAKE, QC, June 26, 2014 – SteelHawk Homes is proud to announce the company’s joint initiative with the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake’s Housing Program in introducing Project HOPE to Kahnawake. Today, we are ground-breaking on our first Project HOPE home, which will be the first of four (4) homes to this exciting community initiative.
The use of new technology is expected to address a real need in First Nations territories. Today’s announcement and event is the ‘official’ launch of SteelHawk’s innovative approach to pre-built housing design and construction.
“We are using light steel structure technology exclusively, which offers huge benefits in cost, building time and quality,” said SteelHawk President David Montour. “There is a growing demand for affordable quality housing in Indian Country. We are confident we can be a significant part of the solution to this need.”
Project HOPE is a residential home project that assists an underserviced demographic sector in Kahnawake: single parent families who otherwise could not own a home. Project HOPE offers single women and their children a helping hand in achieving a better quality of life. Steelhawk Homes is donating three (3) homes for Project HOPE, while the MCK is adding the remaining home to realize a project total of four (4) homes for 2014. As a primary goal, it is anticipated that the project will continue to grow in subsequent years and service single parent families for many years to come.
