Rooted in the landscape of Northern Ontario over many years, Lafarge Canada Inc. is proud to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our partnership with Whitefish River First Nation, whose cement terminal was established in 1974 in Whitefish River near Manitoulin Island.
The terminal is one-hundred per-cent operated by members of Whitefish River First Nation. All of Lafarge’s cement products distributed in Northern Ontario, particularly for the mining projects, come from Whitefish River Terminal.
Lafarge’s biggest customers, such as Vale and Glencore, appreciate the reliability of our distribution and have chosen to trust us based on the last 39 years of activities. Lafarge has is also proud of our strong health and safety record at the terminal, which is one of the strongest locations within Lafarge.
Just as we do each year, we will be extremely happy to celebrate this partnership with the 40th Whitefish River First Nation’s Fish Fry event which will be held on August 20th at Whitefish River Cement Terminal.
“We’re thrilled to have such great partners in Northern Ontario in the Whitefish River First Nation,” said Howie Scruton, Operations & Terminal Manager for Lafarge Canada Inc. in Northern Ontario. “We’re committed to meaningful engagement with Aboriginal communities, and are eager to partner with local leaders to create more successes like the example we have at the cement terminal,” added Navia Sharma, Marketing Director for Lafarge Canada Inc. in Eastern Canada.
