London school to host Martin’s Aboriginal entrepreneur program – London Community News

May 01, 2014

London will play host to a pilot project aimed at infusing Aboriginal students with entrepreneurial skills.

According to the Minister of Education, the province is partnering with the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative to support the Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program for First Nation, Métis and Inuit students.

Through hands-on activities, Aboriginal students will learn how to develop a business plan and create a product- or service-based business, such as designing a website. Established Aboriginal business owners will mentor the students and eligible students will get funding to start their own businesses.

Pilot programs will begin in September for Grade 11 and 12 students in 10 high schools spread across the province, including H.B. Beal Secondary School in London.
