Long Plain First Nation is moving forward with major community and business developments in Keeshkeemaquah, just outside Portage la Prairie. Chief David Meeches says a new Petro-Canada station is close to opening, with more projects already in the works.

New Petro-Can nearing completion

Meeches notes the new station is designed to replace the existing gas bar there beside the Residential School Museum.

“We have a Petro-Canada coming up here that’s going to take over from our current gas station or gas bar in Portage la Prairie. Our current one is just too limited now. We’ve outgrown it, with the higher population at what we call our Keesh village. This will be something that would provide a better service to not only those visiting our hotel, but the community in general,” says Meeches.
