Support for Indigenous reconciliation has declined among 2024 BC Conservative voters, reported a Research Co. poll
The leadership contest of the Conservative Party of B.C. is unique. Whoever emerges victorious after the vote of members will inherit a considerable caucus, with added challenges presented by defections and, in the case of four challengers, a byelection to make it to the legislative assembly.
Perceptions have moved slightly on specific issues since March 2025 when John Rustad appeared poised to serve for at least a couple of years as leader of the official Opposition. British Columbians are still expressing a preference for political parties where members vote individually (79 per cent, up four points), that acknowledge and help the less fortunate (71 per cent, up one point), that are anti-American (67 per cent, up three points), that advocate for more economic and personal freedoms (64 per cent, unchanged) and that acknowledge Indigenous reconciliation (63 per cent, down three points).
