Mayors of Canada’s biggest cities gather in Toronto for Big Cities Summit

OTTAWA – Nineteen mayors of this country’s biggest cities will come together February 5 in Toronto to hammer out solutions to Canada’s economic challenges. With a federal election on the horizon, the Big Cities Summit places cities at the centre of the national discussion about Canada’s future.

“At a time when Canada is facing economic uncertainty, the Big City Mayors’ Summit is an exciting opportunity to envision and highlight how our cities can provide a path to stable, long-term economic growth and prosperity,” said Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, Chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Big City Mayors’ Caucus.

Leaders in business, labour and economics will join mayors at the summit for a roundtable discussion on cities that points the way to better jobs, a more resilient economy and improved quality of life for all Canadians.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities is the national voice of municipal government representing 90 per cent of Canada’s municipal population.
