Media Advisory – Alberta First Nations Treaty 6, 7 & 8

Media are invited to attend the official launch of the First Nations Health Consortium Ltd. (FNHC). FNHC partners are excited to be part of upholding Jordan’s Principle to provide Enhanced Service Coordination with Health Canada.

Jordan’s Principle (JP) applies to all First Nations children. It is intended to resolve jurisdictional disputes involving the care of First Nations children, including disputes between departments within the federal government as well as those between the federal government and provinces/territories; we are the link between the child & the needed program, service, supplies, equipment and support!

The First Nations Health Consortium Ltd.  represents a significant portion of the First Nations population comprising 11 First Nations and three Treaty areas in Alberta, representing about 28% of the total First Nations population. The FNHC partnership includes the following organizations:

  • Bigstone Health Commission, Treaty 8
  • Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council, Treaty 8
  • Maskwacis Health Services, Treaty 6
  • Siksika Nation, Treaty 7
