Métis Nation–Saskatchewan representatives say early engagement is essential as SaskPower explores the potential for small modular reactor (SMR) development in the region.
Marg Friesen, Regional Representative for Eastern Region 3, said the consultation session in Estevan was designed as “an information‑gathering session and to answer questions about the project.”
She said one of the biggest concerns raised so far is understanding “how will it impact communities that we serve, how it will impact generations to come,” noting that discussions with SaskPower remain ongoing.
