The Minister will meet with global leaders to discuss effective development cooperation to eradicate poverty.

The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, will participate in the first High-Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation, taking place in Mexico City, April 15–16, 2014. The meeting will bring together Canada and other donors, developing countries, as well as private sector leaders and civil society organizations in a common effort to maximize the impact of international development investments.
The meeting will focus on five themes: progress on implementing international development effectiveness commitments; domestic resource mobilization; development challenges in middle-income countries; South-South and triangular cooperation; and engaging the private sector in international development.
On the margins of the High-Level meeting, Minister Paradis will also host round tables and meetings with Canadian businesses, civil society organizations, and world leaders in development aimed at increasing their involvement in international development, particularly in support of key development priorities such as those related to maternal, newborn and child health, child protection and sustainable economic growth.
