Province ordered pause on new gaming operations lifted in 2023, but no new VLTs OK’d since
Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries is weighing the first expansion of VLTs in the province in at least eight years.
Gerry Sul, the Crown corporation’s CEO, told a legislative committee last week Liquor & Lotteries has “accumulated almost 30 requests … to pursue additional VLTs” since the former Progressive Conservative government paused gaming expansion in 2018.
Sul said Liquor & Lotteries couldn’t pursue those applications for new video lottery terminals because of the suspension on gaming expansion.
