What’s happening on (and off) Parliament Hill, plus the news you need to start your day.
Just three days after Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne managed to secure preliminary parliamentary approval for his inaugural budget, MPs are set to begin going through the fine print of the omnibus legislation that would implement many of the measures outlined in his speech.
The bill, which was introduced on Tuesday and clocks in at 634 pages, also sets the stage for the next make-or-break confidence test for the minority Liberal government, which will once again need the support of at least two opposition members — or, alternately, four absences on the nay side — to send it to committee for further review.
