What’s happening on (and off) Parliament Hill, plus the news you need to start your day.
For the second day in a row, Prime Minister Mark Carney is planning to be in his front-and-centre seat in the House of Commons this afternoon, where he’s likely to face a fresh flurry of follow-up questions on his government’s newly-signed deal with Alberta, including his pledge to meet with Coastal First Nations leaders “at the earliest opportunity,” which, as iPolitics reported yesterday, was one of several commitments that he made during a highly-charged appearance before “hundreds of First Nations chiefs” in Ottawa.
He’ll also join his fellow Liberals at their weekly caucus huddle (10 a.m.) according to his itinerary, and is booked in for an afternoon meeting with Canadian tennis player Victoria Mboko (3:15 p.m.)
