Teaming up to promote the North American Indigenous Games has proven to be a successful venture for one aboriginal entrepreneur.
It still surprises Kendal Netmaker to see how popular his Neechie Gear clothing line has become. When he registered to be a NAIG vendor, he was contacted by SaskSport and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations for a meeting.
“They had an idea to do a collaboration for the athlete T-shirts and some merchandise T-shirts, so they placed an order,” Netmaker said.
“Then we split another deal to get me down here and have some volunteers help me with the selling. And now we have fundraised a lot of money for them so it’s been amazing. All the proceeds go right back to (NAIG).”
All proceeds from the sale of NAIG gear featuring the Neechie Gear logo go to support NAIG.
“I’m pretty sure sales are (more than) $5,000, they have been selling,” Netmaker said. “It’s pretty crazy.” He is happy to be able to provide support for NAIG.
