Ombudsman Paul Dubé heard deep concern and frustration from trustees, students, families, and others in the public education community at the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association’s annual Public Education Symposium in Toronto on January 24, as many spoke about the profound challenges currently facing school board governance and concerns about a loss of meaningful public voice in decision-making.
Ombudsman Dubé delivered a keynote presentation at the event, sharing highlights and lessons learned from our 10 years of oversight of all Ontario school boards.
