Nunatsiavut Government: Expressions of Interest

The Nunatsiavut Government requires a pool of potential candidates for purpose of appointment to the Boards, Committees or other bodies created under the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement (LILCA), or established under Inuit law. In accordance with the Directive Respecting Appointments and Nominations to Boards and Other Bodies, the Nunatsiavut Government is currently seeking Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement who may be interested in serving on these Boards, Committees and other bodies.

Interested persons will have their name added to a list of potential candidates that may be recommended for appointment by the Appointments Committee.

Potential candidates may be required for the following:

  1. Torngat Joint Fisheries Board – This Board’s primary responsibility is to advise the federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans on a variety of issues related to the conservation and management of fisheries in the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area (LISA).
  2. Torngat Wildlife and Plants Co-Management Board – This Board has a broad range of powers and responsibilities with respect to the conservation and management of wildlife plants and habitat within LISA.
  3. Regional Membership Committee(s) – Membership Committees review all applications for Enrolment as Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claim Agreement. Committee members are required Nain and north of Nain, Hopedale, Postville and Makkovik, and Rigolet and Lake Melville.
  4. Inuit Membership Appeals Board – This Board reviews appeals of decisions made by the Regional Membership Committees.
  5. Dispute Resolution Board – This Board resolves disputes that arise under the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.
  6. Torngat Mountains National Parks Co-management Board – This Board manages the Torngat Mountains National Park.
