Happy Valley – Goose Bay and Lanse au Loup, Labrador– The NunatuKavut Community Council (“NCC”) is pleased to announce a partnership with the Labrador Fishermen’s Union Shrimp Company Limited for the harvesting of the NunatuKavut shrimp allocation.
The Labrador Fishermen’s Union Shrimp Company Limited not only shares a geographical service area with the NunatuKavut Community Council, but its people and communities also overlap.
“Both organizations understand and promote the need for adjacency when it comes to the fishery and we share a commitment to real and sustainable economic development in our communities,” said Todd Russell, President of the NCC. “We also share a commitment to the longevity of the fishery in this territory. “
“Our job is to make sure the resources of NunatuKavut benefit the people of NunatuKavut—both aboriginal and non-aboriginal”, said Russell. We look forward to a positive working relationship with the Labrador Shrimp Company during the years to come.”

We have worked with NCC on many projects over the years and the new partnership will greatly assist us in maintaining good paying jobs on our vessels. We look forward to building a stronger relationship with NCC that will see both organizations working together for the benefit of Coastal Labrador.”
The current agreement with the Labrador Fishermen’s Union Shrimp Company Limited is in place for five years and commences this coming fishing season.
