Wiikwemkoong, University of Guelph share research stories during annual conference
Nearly 20 years ago, when Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory began the task of cataloguing the community’s vast plant species, they were starting with a blank slate.
Elder Theodore Flamand, the community’s species at risk coordinator, recalled Wiikwemikoong had no knowledge of what was available in the territory, and it took years just to get a baseline of information.
