Order of B.C. awarded to Chief Robert Louie – Castanet

For his transformative leadership in Indigenous self-governance, a Westbank leader is being recognized with the Order of British Columbia.

Chief Robert Louie was awarded the province’s highest honour Monday due to “his transformative leadership in Indigenous self-governance and economic development, setting a national standard for community empowerment and prosperity,” the province said in its announcement.

“As Chief (y?il?mix?m) of the Westbank First Nation (WFN) for more than 27 years, he led the negotiation of the landmark Westbank Self-Government Agreement, setting a national precedent,” the province said.
