Bruce Power has applied to the CNSC for a 5-year licence renewal for the continued operation of the Bruce Nuclear Generating Stations A and B. The Commission will be holding a public hearing to consider the licence renewal applications in September 2014. Under its Participant Funding Program (PFP), the CNSC is allotting up to $75,000 for members of the public, Aboriginal groups, and other interested stakeholders to participate in the public hearing process, including the review of Bruce Power’s licence renewal applications and other relevant documentation specifically related to these applications.
Funding must be used to prepare for, and participate in, the Commission’s public hearing, scheduled for September 2014. Funding will be considered for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information to the Commission. A formal notice of hearing will soon be issued by the Commission Secretariat, confirming the date and location of the public hearing.
The deadline to submit a participant funding application is Friday, January 31, 2014. Please note that late or incomplete funding applications will not be considered.
A Funding Review Committee, independent and external to the CNSC, will consider all applications for funding and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.
Before submitting a funding application form, interested parties are encouraged to review Bruce Power’s licence renewal applications and other relevant documentation related to these applications. These documents may be requested from the Commission Secretariat at [email protected].
