PDAC convention opens new pathways for Indigenous youth in mineral exploration and mining – The Globe and Mail

When Devon Patterson walked into the March 2025 convention of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), he was not just another delegate. As part of the inaugural Indigenous Youth and Early Career Ambassador Program at PDAC 2025, he was there to sit across the table from decision-makers, share his perspective and help shape the future of an industry that is still redefining its relationship with Indigenous communities.
“The Indigenous youth ambassador program provides an incredible opportunity for Indigenous youth and mineral industry leaders to convey their perspectives on the past, present and future of the mining industry,” says Mr. Patterson. “Being given the chance to glean wisdom, exchange ideas, discuss expectations and share concerns with top decision-makers was a phenomenal opportunity.”
