Pipeline meetings next week – The North Bay Nugget

March 27, 2014

Back to back meetings will be held in North Bay Tuesday and Wednesday regarding TransCanada’s Energy East pipeline project.

The first meeting Tuesday is an open house hosted by TransCanada, which runs from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Best Western on Lakeshore Drive. The event is part of the company’s stakeholder engagement process and is an opportunity for residents to ask questions and share concerns about the proposed pipeline project, which would cut through the northern part of the Trout Lake watershed.

The second meeting Wednesday is a community discussion hosted by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), which runs from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the West Ferris Community Centre on Gertrude Street. The OEB will also meet with local First Nation and Metis communities earlier in the day from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The OEB meetings are part of a consultation process taking place in communities along the proposed route regarding the impact of the pipeline project.
