What’s happening on (and off) Parliament Hill, plus the news you need to start your day.
With just one day to go before thousands of duly registered Liberals are set to converge on downtown Montreal for the party’s biennial convention, Prime Minister Mark Carney will hold a “virtual meeting” with his cabinet. (9:30 a.m.)
Several Team Carney front benchers are already slated to start making the rounds in Montreal, including Health Minister Marjorie Michel, who will team up with Coalition avenir Québec MNA Céline Haytayan for a “housing announcement” somewhere in the Montreal region. (1 p.m.)
Later this afternoon, Housing and Infrastructure Minister Gregor Robertson will be in Laval to unveil fresh federal funding for local infrastructure during an appearance alongside Laval Mayor Stéphane Boyer and local Liberal MP Caroline Desrochers, who also serves as his parliamentary secretary. (2:15 p.m.)
