With the House of Commons poised to return to regular parliamentary programming this morning, the stage is set for the much-anticipated inaugural cross-aisle exchange between Prime Minister Mark Carney and his chief political adversary, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, who is expected to be back in his front-and-centre seat in the chamber when the opening round of the first question period of the fall sitting this afternoon. (2 p.m.)
Before that gets underway, however, Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon will hold his traditional pre-sitting press conference, which, as is standard practice, will offer a preview of what the minority Liberal government aims to accomplish before the precinct shuts down for the holidays in December.
