While there was little doubt that Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre would secure his bid for a return ticket to Ottawa after losing his rural Ontario seat to the Liberals in April, the voters of Battle River — Crowfoot, Alta., made it official last night, with Poilievre securing just over 80 per cent of the vote — an ever so slightly smaller margin of victory than his predecessor, Damien Kurek, who captured just over 82 per cent of the vote in the general election, but more than enough to qualify as a landslide victory by any measure.
“Poilievre thanked Kurek on Monday for his ‘gracious sacrifice’ and promised to be a ‘humble servant’ for those in Alberta,” Canadian Press reported last night.
