With just days to go until he’s all but guaranteed to secure a seat in the House of Commons as the duly (by)elected representative for Battle River — Crowfoot, Alta. — where, as Canadian Press notes, “more than 14,000” voters have already cast their ballots in what is widely viewed as one of the safest Conservative ridings in Canada — Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre will be taking a brief break from the campaign trail to make a quick trip to the neighbouring province of Saskatchewan this morning. As per the party-issued advisory, Poilievre is booked in for an on-camera appearance “just outside of Saskatoon” in Corman Park, where he’ll likely reiterate his demand for the federal government to show its support for Canadian canola farmers facing now sweeping new tariffs on exports to China by ordering the Canada Infrastructure Bank to pull the plug on that controversial $1 billion low-interest loan to BC Ferries to cover the cost of buying four new vessels from a Chinese shipyard.
