Premiers, PM to go over potential response to Trump tariff threats during closed-door huddle in Ottawa – iPolitics

With less than a week to go until U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is officially reinstalled in the White House, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold an in-person, closed-door huddle with provincial and territorial premiers to compare notes and plot strategy in response to the incoming president’s repeated threats to impose a sweeping 25 per cent levy on all Canadian exports. Speaking with reporters after a one-on-one chat with Ontario Premier Doug Ford in Toronto yesterday, Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc revealed that both the finance department “and Canada’s major banks have been working on modelling potential job losses from the tariffs,” but “declined to share that information,” Canadian Press notes.
