President David Chartrand’s Special Statement on the Passing of Minister Jean Desrosiers

We have lost one of our Champions of Métis rights and one who had attained the great respect of his cabinet and President as a close friend and colleague, a man who was re-elected each time for he always defended the views of his Region. We will miss him and be lost without his conviction. We will miss the many times his humour and wit brought us together. May we all, in our own special way, send prayers to his family and true partner – his wife Edith. The MMF flag is to fly at half-mast until Jean finishes his journey to his new home in Heaven.

To my friend Jean – your friendship will be greatly missed. Your loyalty to your Government will be remembered and at our next cabinet meeting, I will keep an empty chair right beside Denise to remind us all of your role and the respect you so greatly deserve as you fought so hard to advance our Nation.
