In order to make LNG a reality in B.C., the provincial government needs to secure land to build pipelines.
They are hoping a multi-million dollar incentive will buy them favour with a group of First Nation leaders who control some of that land.
Two proposed gas pipelines would traverse along the Gitxsan First Nations’ traditional territory.
Global News has obtained a letter sent out to some 60 chiefs of the Gitxsan.
The province is offering the Gitxsan $12 million, plus $2 million as a bonus to secure right-of-way rights for the two pipelines.
